Awards

County opportunity grants

Grants are awarded to individual girls and adult members providing opportunities for girls, to enable them to take part in a guiding event or activity or even just attend weekly meetings which would otherwise be prohibitive due to cost.

Applications should be made by the nominating unit leader on behalf of the individual and should be countersigned by the district commissioner or the division commissioner if the leader making the application is the district commissioner.

There is no limit to how much the grant being applied for is but the amount must be justified. If over a certain amount, the application may have to go to the Finance Committee for approval. We aim to have a response to the application within 8 weeks of submission. Multiple applications can be submitted by the same unit team but they must be for differing events, activities or to support different girls.
