Milton Guides and Senior Section Awards Evening

1st and 2nd Milton Guides and Milton Senior Section hold an Awards Evening to celebrate the achievements of many girls over the past year

Three girls – Bethan, Lucy and Jessica – all received their Baden-Powell Challenge Awards from Jean Verney, County Commissioner at a recent Awards Evening. The Guides had undertaken a range of challenges and all attended a recent County Baden-Powell Adventure. Bethan is the first girl to complete the award from 1st Milton Guides, a group which reopened less than four years ago. Bethan was one of the group’s first Guides!

2nd Milton Guides has been running a little longer and they celebrated their fifth birthday with a special cake. Their first Guide member, Fiona, was there to help cut the cake with Leaders Fiona and Alli.

Eight girls (Bethan, Jenni, Lorna, Lucy, Emily, Ciara, Georgina and Rachel) all of whom were Guides locally and have now moved on to other guiding roles were presented with Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Awards.

Jenny made her promise as a Young Leader and then received her certificate and badge for completing the Young Leader Qualification. Fiona received her Senior Section camp permit. A number of other girls were awarded annual challenge badges and Go For Its.

The groups said temporary farewells to Leaders going on maternity leave (Fiona McMillan and Fliss Bell) and to Alli Orton, taking a break from Guiding. All that, plus a slideshow of the fun the Guides had last year and lots of cake, lovingly baked by our Star Bakers, made for a great evening, showcasing what we do to parents and friends.
