Mayor of Cambridge, Councillor Gerri Bird, joined around 100 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and members of The Senior Section from Cambridge City South East District to celebrate World Thinking Day last weekend.
The afternoon’s activities were based on the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts four World Centres. The event was organised by Hannah Fisher and Rebecca Benson as part of their Queens Guide Award. Both girls are students at Anglia Ruskin University as well as being adult volunteers with Girlguiding.
Gerri joined in with girls from 40th Cambridge Brownies to learn about Swiss chocolate and took part in a marble run team game. With the 39th Cambridge Brownies, Gerri learnt to tie friendship knots in strawberry laces. The girls were also able to learn about the role of Mayor and the significance of the Mayoral chain.
Hannah commented “The event was a great success and all the girls enjoyed it, particularly all the sweets and crafts!”
