Girlguiding Linton District held their Annual Campfire at the Jarman Centre in Newmarket in May. 160 members, aged 5-75 attended the event.
Grace, Toni-ann and Pauline led the campfire, with individual groups leading their favourite campfire song. This year they mixed traditional songs with some new ones, or old ones depending on your age. The ‘new ones’ added to the repertoire this year were ‘Long Legged Sailor’, ‘Om-ne-omni’ and ‘Life is Butter’.
Kate, a Brownie Leader said “I think it was the best one yet. I loved all the new songs I had not heard before.”
Dawn, another Brownie Leader said “Another campfire enjoyed by all!”
During the evening Louisa Powell-Owens, Linton District Commissioner, presented four Guides with their Baden-Powell Challenge Award. The Guides were Morgan and Morven from 1st Brinkley Guides, and Caitlin and Maya from 2nd Linton Guides. Also Lizzie, from 1st Linton Guides, made her Guide Promise round the campfire.
