1st Linton Guide and local young accordionist Eliz aged 13, is one of 103 exceptional young instrumentalists across all musical genres to win an award from the national charity Awards for Young Musicians.
Competition for the awards this year was extremely high, with the charity receiving nearly three times the number of applications than it could support. After careful deliberation the independent adjudication panel decided to award Eliz with a Robert Lewin Scholarship, named after the man upon whose legacy the charity was founded.
Eliza began playing the accordion at the age of 5. Recently she has visited Granta School, giving the children a chance to listen, play and ask questions about the accordion. The children and Eliz enjoyed this so much that more visits are already planned. Eliz is currently part of the Essex North Youth Band, which has been running for a year now and in the past she has been involved with folk and school bands.
At Guides, Eliz is a Patrol Second and enjoys camping. She attended the county activity camp at Grafham Water last year and will be going to CamJam 2015 later this summer.
