30th Cambridge Brownies clean for the Queen!
Twenty Brownies from Cambridge braved the rain this month to take part in a national initiative, Clean for the Queen.
The Brownies, who meet in Newnham village, enthusiastically donned gloves and spent their weekly meeting litter picking along the streets in the village and on the nearby park on Lammas Land. They collected over three bags of rubbish and litter in just over an hour.
The Brownies took part in the scheme, which is designed to clean up Britain in time for the Queen’s 90th birthday in June, as they had voted to do some community action activities this term.
Brownie Leader, Clare, said: “This seemed like a great opportunity for us to take action to improve our local community”.
