Optician visit for Rainbows on World Sight Day
World Sight Day was the theme for the 4th March Rainbows at their meeting on 9 October 2014. The Rainbows, aged 5-7 years, were visited by Jennifer Deverson of Specsavers Opticians in March. Jennifer showed the girls the equipment used for testing sight as well as giving them the chance to try on different spectacle frames.
When asked about the visit, 6 year old Lucy Band said ‘I found out you need to look after your eyes and not get sand and dirt in them.’
The Rainbows received some high visibility vests from Specsavers so that they can be seen when out at night.
Carrie Wheeler, Rainbow Leader, said ‘The girls were really interested in learning about sight. It was great that Specsavers could visit us on World Sight Day. We are also delighted to have received the high visibility vests. With the darker nights coming, it will enable the Rainbows to be seen by traffic.’
