Wisbech Brownies visit local orchard

17 Brownies from Wisbech St Mary celebrated autumn and the harvesting of local produce with a visit to the Orchard Tea Room and Farm Shop in Wisbech.

The girls picked apples of several varieties in the twelve acre orchard and learnt the difference between apples for cooking and eating. They also had a go at apple pressing so that they could taste the apple juice. The girls then had the opportunity to taste honey from the orchard’s own beehives as well as completing a quiz challenge about the fruit grown in the orchard.

Brownie leader Elaine Middleton said “It was great for the girls to taste produce fresh from the trees on the farm.” Lisa, aged 9, said “The apple juice tasted great and I loved being able to pick apples straight from the trees.”
