Girlguiding Newmarket District is calling on residents of the Newmarket area to give some of their time to enable local girls and young women to enjoy a wide range of exciting activities, as well as acquire new skills and experiences themselves.
In Newmarket District there are currently around 60 girls of Rainbow and Brownie age who want to take part.
This is no surprise as during last term the rainbows visited Colchester Zoo took part in the Newmarket Carnival and visited their local fire station. Brownies went on a residential adventure to celebrate the Big Brownie Birthday and enjoyed a day at Chessington World of Adventures.
Girlguiding has an ongoing campaign to seek out more adult members. The organisation is hugely popular, with more than half a million members and volunteers around the UK. Girlguiding Newmarket needs volunteers to give time to support their local groups
Chloe Carter is a Brownie Leader in Newmarket who said: “Volunteering with Girlguiding gives me a huge sense of achievement when I think of how much the girls in my unit have grown in confidence in the time I’ve known them. I have also become more confident and the skills and experiences I have gained through guiding really help in my working life as a therapist and trainer.”
Girlguiding offers a range of flexible volunteering opportunities to enable girls and young women to grow in confidence and discover their full potential in a safe, girl-only space.
