Celebrations at a Garden Party

The Chair of Rhee Division Trefoil Guild and the County President hosted a Garden Party this week to celebrate four big events: the 60th wedding anniversary of Pam & Don Fisher, the 50th wedding anniversaries of Annette & Chris Bond and of Tracy & Paul Davies and of course, the 90th birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

During the event, Jean Verney had the pleasure of presenting two County brooches, “The Lily”. The first was presented to Pat Saunders for outstanding service to guiding in Melbourn and camping in the county. The second was presented to Lady Olwen Cass for her work currently as a County Vice-President and previously as County President. Both ladies were equally surprised to receive their awards and everyone there felt they were well deserved.

It was also a rare occasion when four out of the five MBE recipients in Girlguiding Cambridgeshire East were together – Janet (Aggie) Baker, Grace Bristow, Ann Mitchell and Lady Olwen Cass. Unfortunately our fifth, Mary Sanders, was unable to attend.
