Last month,1st Horseheath Brownies transformed into pirates for their Brownie Holiday at the Jarman Centre, near Newmarket.
Members of Balsham Rainbows joined with the Brownies for a welcome campfire on the Friday evening. They also had a craft session together on the Saturday. They had fun decorating treasure chests, making eye patches and encrusting cutlasses with jewels.
The Brownies also made shell bracelets and seaside sand pictures and then had a game of Pirate Cluedo. After a picnic lunch in the grounds, the girls spent time in the sensory garden. They all let off steam in the evening, dancing the night away.
On Sunday morning, the Brownies went looking for hidden treasure during a geocaching session. Each group also set a cache, so now there are three new caches for future treasure hunters to find at the Jarman Centre.
Bea, a Brownie, said “It was my first time at the Jarman Centre and it was good fun. I can’t wait to go again next year!” Laurene, a Young Leader, said “I remember going away as a Brownie. Being able to give today’s Brownies the same experiences I had makes it all worthwhile”.
