Guiding offers exciting opportunities for girls and young women to travel abroad and the chance to make international friends from here in the UK. But finding out more about other countries and peoples doesn’t have to mean travelling around the globe –there is a strong international flavour to our fun and challenging programme for all sections from Rainbows right through to Senior Section.
International Travel
Whether you would like to work on an HIV/AIDS awareness project in Honduras, take part in a cultural exchange with Japan or get involved in an international project where you live, it’s easy through guiding. There are opportunities advertised on the Girlguiding UK website for Senior Section members and adults involved in guiding – click here for more details.
Also look out for information about County trips and international experiences on this website and in the County newsletter.
Read about the fun and adventures some of our county members have had recently on their international experiences here. see belwo for the Internation Reports.

The Girlguiding UK website has details of lots of great resources on global education – have a look here for more information on topical global issues ranging from girls and education to refugees.
World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts – an organisation with 10 million girls and 1 voice.
Girlguiding UK is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), which is the largest women’s organisation in the world.
WAGGGS is a worldwide Movement providing non-formal education where girls and young women develop leadership and life skills through self-development, challenge and adventure. Girl Guides and Girl Scouts learn by doing.
Guiding shares the same principles in all of the 145 countries where there are members, despite wide differences in culture. Its extensive links to other organisations, such as the United Nations, lets us work directly to influence world youth policy and women’s rights.
To find out more about WAGGGS and the 4 WAGGGS World Centres, in Switzerland, the UK, India and Mexico, visit WAGGS WORLD.“It is the policy of The Guide Association to safeguard its members from physical, sexual and emotional harm while participating in Guiding activities.
The Association takes all reasonable steps to ensure that through relevant procedures and training, children, young people and adults taking part in Guiding activities do so in a safe environment.” All new adult volunteers in Cambs East now undergo an enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check. Guiders also attend training on Girl guiding UK's policy of Safe From Harm both in relation to themselves and to the girls they are working with.. They then receive this useful pocket-size leaflet which outlines the Association's expectations for a Guider while she is working within the Movement. As always, if she encounters any problem she should liaise with her Commissioner. If you are a Guider and haven't received a copy of this leaflet, do get in touch with your Commissioner. Many frequently asked questions on the Criminal Record Bureau checks are answered on the Girl guiding UK website.
G/O form (one day activity) available from Girlguiding UK. Other official permission forms are also available from their website.
